YOUR DOG IS PART OF YOUR FAMILY AND LEAVING IT BEHIND IS SIMPLY NOT AN OPTION? DOGS ARE WELCOME IN OUR RESORT! TWO LEGS OR FOUR - OUR PRIORITY IS MAKING ALL OUR GUESTS HAPPY.

We’ll do everything to make your furry friend feel welcome. The Slow Travel Resort Kirchleitn is a holiday hotspot for many families with young kids. Dogs that stand no taller than your knee are free to join you on your holiday!
Enjoy a relaxed stay with your dog at our resort, with lots of opportunities for customising your time here in a breathtaking natural setting. Whether the two of you like adventurous, active, or quiet holidays – we guarantee that you will find plenty to do.

In both summer and winter, we have a range of fantastic activities on offer for you and your faithful companion.

WINTER HOLIDAYS

If you are not put off by the cold winter weather and don’t believe in the principle of “short walks only” as soon as temperatures drop, you can look forward to lots of fun activities to share with your dog during the winter months.

Take your dog along to all your favourite winter sports, from ice-skating to snowshoe hiking or cross-country skiing!

SUMMER HOLIDAY

Summer is the time for hiking and swimming! Enjoy this magnificent scenery together with your dog. Dogs are allowed on all the hiking trails in the region but must be kept on a lead.

And if either one of you starts to run out of steam, simply hop on a cable car to make things a bit easier for yourself. Dogs are allowed on cable cars and chairlifts, and there are several dog-friendly mountain huts where the two of you can recharge your batteries.

Dogs are also welcome to the Bad Kleinkirchheim golf course and to the wildlife park in Feld am See. When the weather is particularly hot, head for one of the dog beaches in Carinthia for a well-deserved cool-down.

Packing list:
A holiday with your dog:

  • Pet passport + vaccination certificates (rabies shot is mandatory!)
  • First-Aid kit for when you’re out and about; medication
  • Bowls, food, treats, water for the trip
  • Please note that your dog needs to be microchipped in order to travel to Austria!
  • Lead, collar, harness, muzzle
  • If required, clothing for cold days; sun protection for dogs

Car-free setting

There are no cars whatsoever in our villages.

Dog-friendly beaches

Carinthia has several dog-friendly beaches, three of them at Lake Weißensee, two at Lake Ossiacher See and one at Lake Afritzer See, Lake Millstätter See and Lake Forstsee respectively.

 

Vet

Dr. Wulschnig’s practice is located just 500 metres away from our villages, meaning that help is at hand if there are any problems.

Medicine cabinet

There is a medicine cabinet available at our reception for minor injuries and emergencies.

Bar

Dogs are provided with plenty of water in our outdoor areas at all times.

Vacation with dog

If you decide to take your dog on holiday, a surcharge of EUR 15 per day applies. If you bring more than one dog, a charge of EUR 7.50 applies for the second dog and every additional dog. Please note that food is not included in this charge.

It’s not the end of the world if you forget to pack something. We have a range of blankets and bowls available in our resort, but please note that most dogs will feel more comfortable with the utensils they are used to.

Yes! There is a dog club that the two of you may attend.
